I’ve been practicing this exercise off and on for years. Spending five minutes a day on it at 60 BPM will greatly improve your upper register technique and help to eliminate any glitches between notes.
Takeaways:
Spend 3 times as long in the extremities of the horn as you do in the middle of the horn.
Move your fingers efficiently, keeping them as close to the horn as possible.
Looping an exercise like this slowly will help to get you into a great practice mindset.
Keep your fingers moving even when breathing.
Use your phone to record yourself to hear technical glitches.
